Home Dog Training Buxton & Puppy Behaviour
Welcome to dog training Buxton, my name is Dave Jefferay your local Bark Busters dog behaviourist therapist and trainer. My methods are easy to follow, and my approach is instinctive to dogs. The training is fast acting because they understand very quickly, and it is based on the way dogs naturally communicate with each other, using voice tones and body language. From the first lesson, I will demonstrate and help you to implement the training, as it's important that you and your family can replicate the progress we will make at the first lesson. I will not leave until both you and I are happy that you can get the results you want, whether it's to improve recall, stop unnecessary barking, prevent stealing, aggression / reactiveness or any other behaviour you want to improve.
If you are looking for professional dog training near you in Buxton, then you have found the right place. Our unique Lifetime of the dog, or 12-month support guarantee, where one payment gives ongoing support for the chosen period, will allow you to relax, secure in the knowledge that I will return free of charge to help further with your dog's behaviour problems, or to help with any new behaviour problems in the future.
Many clients tell me that they have had dogs in the past with no issues, but this one is the first time where certain behaviours can't be stopped. Most dogs can be very happy in their families, but when something prevents you from enjoying your dog 100% of the time, I can help.
The most satisfying aspect of my work is when dog owners have told me that they were contemplating giving up their dog to rescue, or worse, euthanised, due to their dog's severe behaviour problems, but they now feel supported, the training is giving them excellent results, and they have now rebuilt the bond with their dog and are enjoying them again once more.
About me
I have always loved dogs, especially as I grew up in a dog loving family. We always had dogs around, a mix of breeds often large and very hairy. I spent many days in school holidays with friends in the local woods playing and exploring, with "my" dog Buster, a rather clever mix of Border Collie and German Shepherd.
After leaving home, Cassie became my companion. I had decided a puppy would need too much of my time, so I went to the local rescue and fell in love with a lovely dog who was still very young. We went to classes, but I was not happy with the training methods, so we just worked on our own, as many people do.
A little later in life, with my new family, Perra, came into our lives. A beautiful Spanish rescue dog who we believe is a German Shepherd cross Galgo, which is a Spanish Greyhound hunting dog. She arrived when she was around 5 or 6 months old, and she thought that chasing our cats and chickens was great fun. She was chewing furniture and shoes and was rather erratic with toileting in the wrong place. Her recall was poor, and she jumped up at everyone. We knew she was going to be a large strong dog and I realised that I could not do the training needed on my own. Sadly, when researching online, in books and watching many TV series, everything was so confusing regarding the methods used, that I thought I'd have to struggle on my own. However, that's when I found Bark Busters through an old school friend who had been a dog trainer and behaviour therapist with them for several years.
I loved how their methods worked, using voice tones and body language, observing how dogs communicate with each other, the fun games and teaching impulse control. As a result, Perra became a lovely well-balanced dog, happy for the cats to take over her bed. She and Jennie, a family Shar Pei cross Border Collie, are my co-workers now helping me by being my "stooge" dogs when working with clients whose dogs are reactive or very shy with other dogs. Excitingly we will have a new furry canine joining our family soon. An English Shepherd puppy, probably to be called Eileen. This was the breed originally used on farms before Border Collies became popular, less excitable, but just as willing. So, I will be up at nights to help with toilet training and making sure that she learns to respect all the other animals and humans in my home.
Whatever the behaviour problem that is stopping you from enjoying your dog 100% of the time, then please do contact me to find out more about how I can help you get things back on track. I look forward to helping you and your dog.
