About me
I was born in Southeast London and grew up with my family with dogs always around, mostly small ones, but often up to 7 of them. Over the years during my early working life in a variety of roles within companies, I gradually understood that dogs were going to be an essential part of my life. To satisfy this, I began working with local rescue groups fostering dogs in need, some successfully rehomed and some sadly who never left. Many of them, had behaviour problems, trauma, anxiety, aggression, barking to much, toileting indoors or other unwanted behaviours caused by their prior individual situations. Most I could help, but realised I needed expert help with a lovely chocolate labrador called Coco who was reactive to dogs and was a very strong puller on lead.
I found Bark Busters and set up an appointment for us to start work with Coco. The trainer, Andy, was really understanding and together we worked on helping Coco to learn to trust my decisions through her natural communication. Her behaviour was explained to me and with simple training techniques, and the new games, it was enjoyable for both of us. A tailor-made training programme was put in place for my daily use, and it worked wonders. From the outset I saw a huge improvement in her behaviour and within a few short weeks, Coco was able to walk around the streets in my local area ignoring other dogs with my encouragement to keep her focus on me and stay at my side without pulling. Coco was one of the rescue dogs that never left. She is now one of my four labradors who are a joy to live with.
Having moved to beautiful South Staffordshire, following changes in my own life, I have been able to become a Bark Busters dog behaviour therapist and trainer and have a fabulous career in this fabulous area.
