Neil dealt with Barking

Neil did an excellent job with us and Oscar, his techniques have worked well and whilst it hasn't cured Oscar overnight of his barking he has been totally cured of attacking the hoover and yard brushes. He now knows when he has misbehaved. It is getting easier to deal with the barking. we look forward to Neil returning to train US how to walk a dog properly

18th September 2013 - Graham Milgrew

Graham dealt with Aggression, Barking, Jumping up, Pulling, Puppy management, Recall, Separation anxiety, Sibling rivalry, Toileting

We have never owned dogs before so having two 8 month old Daschunds was a bit of a challenge. They barked and growled at everyone and everything, did not respond to any kind of commands, fought over their food bowls and taking them out was a complete nightmare. Pulling on the lead, picking up everything on the ground, snarling at passers by as well as being very frightened of them. When Jo arrived we spent about an hour chatting about the dogs and what we would like to achieve with them and then she met them. The barking was fearsome but using the commands Jo gave us and the Ttouch technique we were able to calm the girls. We were all able to sit in the garden while she talked to us and wrote up her notes. We have carried on with the training and are implementing that with lead training, making the walking far more pleasant. We also use the Ttouch technique every day which has had a calming effect and enabled us to make significant progress with the training. Jo is fantastic, very calming to us as well as the dogs and from her first sight of the dogs was able to pinpoint the issues with both of them. Jo took the time to explain everything in great detail to ensure we understood what we needed to do. Her knowledge was comprehensive and she made sure we had a training plan in place ready for her next visit which was simple for us to achieve. After spending almost four hours with us, from the first visit we started to notice an huge improvement in the dogs behaviour. Jo has been terrific and very supportive and we are very grateful for the on going help we are receiving.

Trainer note from Graham
These clients were rather brave. They agreed to take on 2 Daschunds who were sent from family abroad. The families location in Africa meant that the dogs had no experience of walking on roads, traffic, plus meeting people on walks because the local population actively avoided meeting any dogs. Their busy lifestyle meant the dogs had not been taught basic manners and their new owners had to start from scratch with two extremely frightened dogs who had travelled half way around the world to get to them. Even experienced dog owners would have been hard pressed to deal with the little whirlwinds that came out of the crate from the airport. Fortunately the girls have landed on their paws with their 2 new owners as they are prepared to put all the time and effort needed to deal with all their fears and work patiently and carefully to build up the girls confidence and protect them when they are anxious and unhappy. They are making really good progress and it is lovely to see the true loving nature of these two little dogs emerge from behind the snarling barking masks they put up to protect themselves from the world. The greatest pleasure was to see the dogs pottering around and having the confidence to have a little sniff to check me out on my last visit and I look forward to seeing how they do in the future.

Only had one session so far but very happy with the progress Bry has made, was actually very surprised how soon he started to respond to the training.

17th September 2013 - Sharon Chapman

Sharon dealt with Aggression, Recall

I found the training very helpful and Sharon put me at ease straight away. In the past I have been made to feel bad for my dogs agression, but Sharon reassured me that with time and training all of the problems Charlie had would be resolved. After our initial training I found that I relaxed more whilst taking Charlie for a walk which in turn relaxed Charlie around other dogs. I am now looking forward to progessing further with our training.

14th September 2013 - Estelle Jackson

Estelle dealt with Barking, Hyperactivity, Separation anxiety

It is like Estelle came along and waved a magic wand! We have a different dog after just one week. Estelle had assessed our difficulties and was suggesting solutions within the first half hour. It has been easy to put her instructions into practice due to the time she spent explaining why Cookie was behaving as she was. Estelle helped me to understand what my actions meant to my dog. Thank you!

12th September 2013 - Kevin McDonnell

Kevin dealt with Aggression, Barking, Recall

We decided to contact Bark Busters for our 11 year old dog Gizmo. We rescued him two years ago, although fabulous around people he was always aggressive around dogs. This got to the point where I was scared of taking him out especially with our eight month old son. After Kevin had been here for 10 minutes I knew we had made the right decision- he put us completely at ease and took us through what would happen and it all made complete sense! After a few hours of training Gizmo was socialising in the field with other dogs (my heart was racing!) Wen I walk Gizmo now I feel confident and in control which I realise I never felt before. I am taking things slowing and building up our confidence with other dogs however it had changed our lives already. Gizmo no longer barks in the house an when we come home and is a very obedient dog now (and we are only 4 days in!) Thank you Kevin!

11th September 2013 - Kevin McDonnell

Kevin dealt with Aggression, Barking, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Separation anxiety

We can't recommend Kevin highly enough. From the offset, we knew we'd made the right decision by turning to him for guidance. He asked lots of questions before meeting Timber and so was well prepared on arrival. We were able to ask questions too before arranging our appointment and knowing that only positive methods would be used, (no punishment or alpha training here), set our minds at ease completely. On meeting Kevin we knew that we were in experienced, knowledgeable and kind hands. Having previously made some good progress with our under-socialised and overly energetic GSD, we found we'd got to a point where we needed help handling some of his harder to solve anti-social issues, such as his excessive and frustrated reactions towards other dogs and his over-protective behaviour with us. I wouldn't have believed it myself but within 5 minutes of beginning to practise the techniques Kevin showed us, Timber showed signs of understanding what was expected of him because we could communicate effectively and give him commands he understood. What is more, after months of behaviourists trying, unsuccessfully, to help us introduce Timber to dogs, Kevin managed to help us walk Timber calmly and happily near his own dog with very little fuss or trauma. While we didn't expect all of his troubles to be solved straight away, what we saw today was the beginnings of a happier and calmer dog. Now we have the right tools to guide him, we are happier and calmer too. Thank you Kevin, you will never know just what a difference you have made, and this is only the beginning!
