Bark Busters Reviews and Customer Testimonials

28th January 2015 - Alex Fraser

Alex dealt with Barking, Jumping up, Recall

Very useful and unrushed assessment session. Simple explanation and demonstration of behavioural correction techniques. Feeling positive and enthusiastic about future training sessions.

- -.J, Stretford, Greater Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Charlie is a lovely Westie that has been re-homed at age 6. We don't know a massive amount about his back ground, but for whatever reason he has taken on the role of protecting his home by barking at anything and everything he hears or sees whilst in his home. Following the second session he is much calmer and his barking has considerably reduced. We are now working on his attentiveness whilst out walking so that his owner feels confident to let him off the lead. I am looking forward to seeing how this is going when I visit them both next week.

27th January 2015 - Lee Hardy

Lee dealt with Barking, Pulling

We are very happy with the two visits by Lee and found both very useful. Archie is coming along well and responding to training although he still has his moments! We feel the therapy was worth every penny and will be contacting Lee again when we arrive home in March just for a chat/update and if we feel we might need another visit.

27th January 2015 - Lynn Prentice

Lynn dealt with Aggression, Recall, Separation anxiety

Before I found Barkbusters I had become very disheartened I had lots of people telling me that because Scooby is a lurcher “sighthound” he cannot be trained, he will always run off, you will never be able to walk him without a lead, he won't come back etc etc. I phoned Barkbusters and Lynn got back to me that day and we arranged for her to come and see Scooby, she made me understand why he was behaving the way he was and it was because I had made him the leader of the pack, so he was constantly minding me around the house, he would cry when I left a room, follow me everywhere, and be aggressive towards other dogs. Within weeks I noticed a huge change in Scooby, his recall is excellent, we are still in the process of training but he is a completely different dog, it's the best decision I have made. I would definitely recommend Lynn to others.

25th January 2015 - Kevin McDonnell

Kevin dealt with Aggression, Jumping up, Recall

We recently rehomed Tye, our 8 year old staffie who had a few issues such as jumping up and pulling on the lead, especially towards other dogs which meant we were always wary. Upon meeting Kevin, he explained that Tye was simply excited to meet the other dogs and not wanting to hurt them, which in turn has made us more relaxed. Kevin taught us some simple but very effective techniques which worked almost immediately. We were initially cautious about how effective the training would be. However, there was no need to be as Tye is now a completely different dog after just 3 hours. We would highly recommend Kevin to anyone considering a trainer!

24th January 2015 - Lee Hardy

Lee dealt with Pulling, Recall

After Lee's first visit Inka walks much better with virtually no pulling at all. We've have had a very good response to training given on Lee's second visit, we have more control using the distraction techeuque and feel more confidence in situations that have been stressful in the past. The change in behaviour in such a short time is amazing. Lee's advice and techniques are clearly explained, uncomplicated and easy to implement. Thanks Lee

20th January 2015 - Lee Hardy

Lee dealt with Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Recall

Lee was very professional and explained everything in a straightforward manner that was easy to understand. He also gave practical demonstration of techniques and was very knowledgeable about council rules and regulations with regards to dog walking in parks and green spaces. The effect the first session had on our dog was remarkable. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, however the training we have done with her so far has calmed her down considerably. We look forward to the next session!

19th January 2015 - Kevin McDonnell

Kevin dealt with Aggression, Barking, Jumping up, Pulling

Having previously had a measure of despair that Alice, a rescue bull terrier of 8 years of age, could be cured of her fearful aggression, we are very reassured and encouraged by what Kevin has told us about the dog's personality, what approach we should adopt and what he has shown to be possible with her, given time and effort. Both the indoor work on our style of command and response to behaviour, and outdoor work in a typical problem situation were extremely useful. The guidance on equipment was helpful; in particular, the collar Kevin supplied us with looks as if it will be invaluable.

19th January 2015 - Graham Milgrew

Graham dealt with Aggression, Hyperactivity, Jumping up

Jo was brilliant, with Macy and with my husband and me. She was a strong, calm, kind presence. She explained why Macy is anxious and gave practical solutions of how to reassure her. She is helpful and non judgemental. As she was leaving, a delivery man appeared at our front door with a takeaway. The doorbell is a huge anxiety trigger for Macy. I told Macy to go upstairs and not stay at the front door as Jo had advised and Macy did it! I have high hopes for Macy and for us. Thank you, thank you Jo.

17th January 2015 - Sharon Chapman

Sharon dealt with Chewing, Pulling, Other

Sharon helped us regarding: * Setting our rules and boundaries and applying them consistently. * Door control using 'Bah' and 'Go'.....working most of the time unless very excited. *Practising attentiveness daily, with no or low level distractions... *Ignoring attention -seeking behaviour...., *'Chill mat' next to my armchair......Ted is lying quietly on it, after his meal, attached with short lead, while I am completing this feedback. Lovely! *Walking on loose leash......Very important for me as I have shoulder pain. Ted is responding better to John's greater degree of confidence, and walks well on the pavement. I'm working on this inside the home, and in back garden, taking a few steps only before changing direction. I've noticed an improvement with this, but I 'm accepting that it may take time, and trying not to worry that I haven't achieved it yet. *Teaching 'touch' to keep Ted close to my hand when leash walking...Ted is responding well. *Dietary research...Sharon introduced us to a independent dog food nutrition rating site...shocked that our puppy food was nearly at bottom rating. Have ordered a top-rated food, which is also reasonably priced. *Chewing and shredding tough toys.... Suggested stag antlers.....bought small ones, which 6 month Ted made short work of and swallowed some; emailed Sharon, who replied same day, advising us to buy larger ones ,and reassured they won't harm him if swallowed. We're both relieved that we can be taught to teach Ted, and we are reassured we can get advice and support from Sharon, when we need it. Sharon, thank you very much for your calm, confident, and encouraging way with both of us and Ted.

- -.C, Caernarfon, Gwynedd (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Sharon

Ted is a lovely young rescue dog, he hasn't had much education before being adopted by his current owners. Eventhou they have had dogs before they felt that they need some additional guidance to ensure he matures into a well mannered dog. Initially I have set them some simple exercises, this will give them and Ted some confidence and ensure that they realationship starts off in the right manner. With us all working together, they should have a happy, healthy long realationship.

16th January 2015 - Kevin McDonnell

Kevin dealt with Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling

I was apprehensive calling a dog therapist to help with my dogs behaviour. After the first lesson, I am amazed by how much Storm and myself have learned. After 1 day of following the exercises Kevin advised, I could actually open my front door wide and my dog remained in the front room. He could see the door open but did not attempt to run out. This is amazing! We will be going out for a walk soon, after a calming exercise has been done. I am positive, in no time, my dog and I can enjoy going out for walks again, without it being a stressful event. Kevin, thank you so much!
