Bark Busters Reviews and Customer Testimonials

2nd September 2020 - Alex Fraser

Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Pulling, Puppy management

Alex was honestly great. We discussed Timmy's issues and we started a plan to improve things. He use to bark at everyone man and dog if nearby. Alex has helped this so much that we went to the Peaks and took Timmy and he saw loads of people and dogs and not a peep. We wouldn't entertain idea and letting him near another dog in fear he would bite them but he able to get right next to them face to face .

- -.K, Chadderton, Greater Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex

This session went really really well. When I meet nervous dogs that don’t want me to come in their home, I need to make sure I go at the dogs pace. We did far more with Timmy than I initially expected as he was very stressed when I arrived. I was delighted to hear they had taken him out for the day and he behaved himself.

31st August 2020 - Ben Jordan

Ben dealt with Puppy management

I adopted Roxy, a Romanian street dog, on 20th February 2020 . She was estimated to be about 9 months old, and had been with her mother, and sister, up to their arrival in GSD Rescue SW. Mother is a GSD - father unknown - although she has obvious spitz in her and has remained the same size since adoption. I requested some help, from Bark Busters, with general settling in as she knew little of people, houses, gardens. Ben came to my aid. Having had many dogs in the past I was fairly confident that I could overcome most issues but my job was made much easier by adopting the techniques he gave me. He also encouraged me to take her in to the park with others dogs and, on that day, came with me. I was amazed to find that she was extremely happy to meet other dogs. I have been in the park every day since and her sit, down, stay, recall are good, even with other dogs around. After many months of hard work and patience she feel like 'my' dog who trusts me totally. She can be left at home for short periods and sleeps/rests most of that time as indicated on her tracking device. She no longer shows signs of 'fear of being caught' which were evident in her poor recall, cowering when I bent over her, fear of a towel being flapped and sheer terror of the car. She now adores a fuss from everyone, loves being rubbed dry with the towe. However, she still gets anxious around cars and is sometimes carsick, but she now happily jumps in to my car and settles in the crate as I try to make the journey about the destination...park, beach or friends. I could not have mastered all her fears so quickly, without learning and using the basic 'boundary' rule, which started the bond between us. She now always looks at me for 'permission'.........except when she see her friends, already playing, in the park!! I have read, and regularly use, the update information from Ben which keeps me on track and gives me ideas for new games. I so glad I found Bark Busters and that Bens visit was before 'lockdown'. Roxy became my 'project' for this weird period and saviour of my sanity, as walking our dogs in the park I have met all my neighbours and have had many long chats - at a distance - to help us all through. Thank you Ben and Bark Busters

Wow Kevin came and spent the morning with us as we needed help with our 8 month old Cockapoo. The transformation in our dog is unbelievable he is like a completely different dog, we feel so much happier and relaxed knowing we have the confidence to handle any situation going forward with Reggie. Best decision we made contacting Kevin we were at our wits end and didn't know which way to turn with him! Kevin is brilliant very calm and explained the process very clearly.

28th August 2020 - Alex Fraser

Alex dealt with Barking, Chewing, Puppy management, Sibling rivalry, Toileting

We contacted Alex very soon after bringing our second puppy, Betty, home having had Wilf for 5 weeks. We were struggling with how they interacted, play that looked nothing like play to us and appeared rough and aggressive. Alex was friendly and easy to talk to, and we felt he understood our concerns from the start of our conversation. He demonstrated techniques to correct unwanted behaviour and gave us lots of information to help us understand the interaction between ourselves and our puppies and how we have been responding to them rather than them responding to us. He also spoke about the importance of enough sleep and about different food options. We have now had the opportunity to put in place the suggestions discussed and although it's not the miracle we hoped for, we are seeing a definite change in the right direction. Before Alex's visit we had seriously considered finding a new home for one of our puppies which we would have found heartbreaking, so I cannot express too strongly the difference he has made to life with our two puppies although it's obviously still a work in progress

- -.C, Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex

Really enjoyed this session and I had a little bit if dog envy - I could have happily taken Betty and Wilf home - but four dogs would be a bit much. With puppies it’s so important to get the foundation right. The correct amount of good quality food (puppies need a bigger percentage con relationship to their body weight compared to that of an adult), lots and lots of sleep, some simple ground rules, and attempting to be a bit more aloof (which is the difficult bit). There is no real quick fix with training a puppy, but with patience and the right techniques, owners will get their in the end. Both dogs did really well. Keep up the good work.

27th August 2020 - Neil Price

Neil dealt with Aggression, Barking, Chewing, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Recall, Separation anxiety

Buddy is very nervous around new people and we were very worried about how he would react to Neil but Neil did great at calming us down and knew exactly what to do with Buddy. Although Neil has not successfully made contact with him yet it is clear he will do a thorough process to avoid overwhelming Buddy. We discussed our wishlist with him and Neil had an answer to all! As it has only been one session there aren't many improvements just yet but i know if we listen to our trainer and put the work in, Buddy will be an all-round good boy.

26th August 2020 - Emma Barrett

Emma dealt with Barking, Hyperactivity, Pulling, Recall, Separation anxiety

Excellent start! Emma was considerate of our needs, non judgmental and thorough, offering practical, example led advice and strategies. By the end of today's session we had made considerable progress. I was thrilled with the outcome and this is after only one session. Even our neighbors came out to comment on the improvement and requested details. Can't wait to continue working with our Daxies and the lovely Emma.

19th August 2020 - Graham Milgrew

Graham dealt with Puppy management, Recall

Have had one zoom call first and then a visit where Jo brought her dog for my dog to have a play date to see her reaction to other dogs and practice lead training.

- -.S, Bexleyheath, Kent (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Graham
This owner had a Romanian rescue and had been instructed by her rescue not to take her dog out for walks as they thought she was overwhelmed by seeing dogs and people outside.  Her owners were also scared that she would escape their garden as she had a history of escaping so had been taking her onlead in the garden and were worried she would slip her lead outside.  I was able to get her off lead in the garden and practice getting her back to the family which she was really good at.  It proved that she pretty good with other dogs and her problem was she wasn't used to being outside on a lead which is why she was overwhelmed. For safety she was attached to two leads.  One on her collar and one on her harness.  Graham has since done a further lead walking session so she can be managed on the lead when pulling and they are doing really well with her.
