Bark Busters Reviews and Customer Testimonials

Alex dealt with Barking, Pulling, Puppy management

We are really grateful for Alex’s insight and training for our dog who was being reactive on walks with other dogs. Alex began the training in our home, and then it progressed to being outside in the park, and we were also able to include our other dog in the training for Alex to gauge how they interacted together. In our session we learnt so much, from nutrition to training tips, and insights into why he was reacting in a certain way, and we finished the training feeling empowered to put our learnings to use. We’ve also found the post-session materials shared very helpful to refer to as well. Would highly recommend Alex, thank you.

Alex was excellent. Put me and Skippy at ease. Showed me harness work I'd not done before. More importantly Skippy took to it.

Great session, myself and my wife felt we got plenty of help and direction from Alex. Well demonstrated and put across so was easy to replicate.

Trainer note from Alex
My job is definitely training people not their dog. The methods I teach are simple but effective. The hardest part of training any dog of any age is definitely being consistent. We also need good body language, we need to keep calm, and we need to ensure the basics are in place - right food and right amount, the right amount of sleep, mental stimulation and understanding the importance of being aloof. Looking forward to catching up with them all in a few weeks.

Alex dealt with Barking, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Recall, Separation anxiety

Alex did a phenomenal job. Pod had struggled with reactivity to dogs on walks. Within one session Alex has got us on the road to enjoying our walks!

- S.T, Salford (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
All dogs are clever, but some breeds want to please their owners more than others and Pod was one of these dogs. Apart from being rather excitable when people entered their home, they didn’t really have any issues with Pod’s behaviours at home, but they were struggling with him on walks as he was rather barky when he saw another dog. I always like to do some work in the home first to get a dog listening better to the owners before focusing on lead work and reactivity. He did bark at the first dog we saw, but by the time we finished the walk he was far more focused on them and the barking stopped. I have confidence in the training techniques I teach, but this session even exceeded my expectations. I received an update a few days later advising that he has continued to behave himself on walks and they now both enjoy talking him out. Great result!

Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Jumping up

Had first session with Alex and even though i was nervous to begin with as Charlie my 9mth old German Shepherd Dog has nervous aggression towards some people ,barks a lot and jumps up. But Alex soon put us at ease. Alex took time to listen to me and a few family members and explain to us what we need to be doing to help Charlie. I was surprised at how well Charlie did in the first session, really proud of him. Got some great training tips without any harshness. Been given plenty of homework before next visit. I can highly recommend Alex as a Trainer.

Trainer note from Alex
I have worked with a lot of German Shepherds over the past 10 years and a lot of them were nervous and reactive towards strangers. Charlie is defiantly in his teenage phase and he had started to push back when he was being asked to do something by his family. I never know how much we can do on the initial session, especially when working with a nervous aggressive dog, but I was delighted with how well Charlie! When working with an excitable large teenage dog our body language plays a big role when we want them to listen to us. I believe that ground rules around the home and consistency from owners will also teach them that the home is actually their home to relax in rather than being the place they need to protect. It will be good to catch up with them all to see how they are all getting on.

Alex dealt with Barking, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Recall

Alex was fantastic with our dog Ludo. We have been having some problems with him barking at people in the house and out on walks. Alex did some exercises in the house and then we went on a walk to practice some recall. We are very happy with the tips and advice he gave us and are already seeing an improvement with Ludo's behaviour in our home.

- H.C, Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Another great session and both Ludo and his parents did really well! I have worked with a lot of foreign rescue dogs and in the main they are quite nervous and usually more nervous of men than women. It’s always important that we take the initial training session at the dogs pace, to ensure we don’t overwhelm them. Ludo was less anxious than a lot of the rescues I’ve met and he did really well both inside and outside of the home. I’m confident with some consistency he will continue to do better and better. Keep up the good work.

Alex dealt with Barking, Jumping up, Pulling, Recall, Other

Alex helped me with my 10 month old Samoyed Kingston who I was really struggling to walk due to some behaviours he was having during the walk such as barking, lunging, biting the lead and re-directing onto us, I was feeling hopeless and wasn’t enjoying the walks at all. Due to having a bad experience with a previous trainer I was nervous about having the consultation with Alex however Alex was Absolutely fantastic, he gave me some advice on inside the house and handled Kingston very well outside considering he was a nightmare. The first session went well. Alex sent over some homework for me to focus on and 3 weeks forward the second session was fantastic! I can now walk Kingston with peace of mind, we have been doing so many fun activities such as hiking and going to the beach and I’ve seen such a massive difference in his behaviour. Inside and outside. I can’t wait for the next sessions going forward. I can’t thank Alex enough for his patience and commitment to work with Kingston he gave us much praise for our hard work and always kept us updated on the next sessions and our homework to improve. Thank you so much for everything Alex I can’t recommend you enough.

- S.B, Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
I am so impressed with how Kingston’s behaviour on walks has improved following the initial session. He was certainly a challenge to walk on lead for anybody, but with some hard work from his owner he now walks beautifully. He is a young dog and can still have the odd excitable moment, but even when he is excited, there is no more jumping up and mouthing!! Looking forward to catching up with them all to start working on some long lead work to teach him recall. Keep up the good work!!

Alex was incredible. He was professional and answered our questions appropriately and earnestly. His knowledge was phenomenal, and it has really helped in our understanding and training our puppy Levi. The hands on approach was immensely helpful and made it easier to understand and follow his directions.

Trainer note from Alex
I love working with puppies and their owners! But the reality with any puppy is that there is no quick fix - even for an experienced dog owner. Dogs go through a lot of change in their first 12 to 18 months and my job is to assist the owners and give them the tools and skills to make their dog the best version of themselves.

Just had my first session with Alex and honestly couldn't believe how friendly and informative he was, it's been a day since my first session and I already see and difference in my two pups with the helpful exercises Alex was demonstrating and the different walking methods to gain interaction with them to avoid pulling. I'm excited to see how well behaved my two pups can be and Alex is the perfect person to help me along the way super supportive down the earth just a joy to be around would 100% recommend Alex to anyone needing help

Trainer note from Alex
Great session and 2 really lovely dogs. Puppies tend to be puppies until approximately 6 months and then they enter their teenage phase. The 2 teenagers I met did so well around the home, but were very excitable on their walk. In order for our dogs to listen to us outside of the home, it’s important at that they listen well inside the home. Looking forward to catching up with them all in a few weeks.

Alex dealt with Barking, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Separation anxiety

My 18 month old cocker spaniel has a great personality but also turns into a maniac when he hears a knock at the door, a noise he doesn't know where it's come from, any movement outside etc. He pulls on the lead and doesn't want to be left alone, I can't even nip into the kitchen without him at my feet. After our visit from Alex today, we have started to correct all this behaviour. I feel confident I've got the tools to carry this forward for a much better relationship with my dog and less of a chance of burst ear drums or someone fearing they'll be savaged if they knock on the door. Today I've seen our dog listen to a knock at the door without barking, waiting back from the door, waiting at a boundary line, left him inside alone for 2 mins without barking (bearing in mind I couldn't even take the bin out before) and had an enjoyable walk with him on the lead. I couldn't recommend Alex enough, although there's still a way to go after the initial lesson I feel like I might actually get some normality back. He's worked a miracle in my eyes today.

- H.B, Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Always enjoy my sessions and following the initial session, there should always be some quick wins for the customer. Some behaviours often take longer to improve, especially behaviours such separation anxiety. This session went even better than I could have anticipated, especially due to the fact that we were able to leave him home alone for 2 minutes without him making a fuss and he stopped worrying when we practice knocking on the front door. Happy dog, happy customers and a very happy behaviouralist!

Alex dealt with Aggression, Pulling

Alex was very professional and friendly. Mavis is a rescue English Bulldog. I've had her 5 weeks now and while she gets on with my other 3 dogs when I'm walking her and she sees another dog she starts pulling barking trying to get to the dog and whining really bad. Alex showed me how to handle her on these outbursts and hopefully we will see a difference and she will be to heel. We also did indoor training as well which is a great success. I would definitely recommend Alex. Its also great he comes to your home.

- A.H, Royton (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Great session with Mavis and her Mum and she did really well. In order to get our dogs listening to us better when in a walk, it’s important that we get them listening to us around the home when they are less adrenalised. After the initial session there will always be some quick wins, but some behaviours can take longer to improve.

Alex dealt with Aggression, Pulling

Mavis responded well in training. Alex showed me how to keep her under control when she sees another dog or cat as she starts to pull and tries to get to them barking and whining. Mavis is 4years old and I have only had her 5weeks and don't know how she was trained before so sticking to the programme plan I received off Alex hopefully we will see some changes.
