Welcome to dog training Dudley, my name is Tom Ryan, and I am your local Bark Busters dog behaviourist, therapist and trainer. Bark Busters really become part of my family as my wife and eldest child are also behaviour therapists. Our interest and work with Bark Busters started a long time ago after engaging one of their dog behaviour therapists to help with Coco, a rescue (of course), who although she was initially calm, began to show aggression, lunging at dogs and people, and pulled so much on the lead that it was a real concern trying to walk her.

After the lesson, I was left in awe of how well she responded to the tailor-made training programme that was given to us and the amazing support received. I loved their methods of using voice and body language observing how dogs communicate with each other and the fun games teaching impulse control, and as a result, with our newly learned methods it helped with other rescue dogs we adopted too.

The most satisfying aspect of my work is when dog owners tell me that they were contemplating giving up their dog to rescue (or, worse, euthanised) but that they now feel supported, the training is giving them excellent results and they have rebuilt the bond with their dog and are enjoying them once more.

About me
I was born in the West Midlands but eventually settled in lovely South Staffordshire with my family and four children. Our current furry family are five rescue dogs who have found their forever home with us. After leaving school, I worked in a family-owned business learning how important customer service was and eventually became the owner of a thriving, successful company. However, my mind was made up to train to become a Bark Buster’s dog behaviour therapist, due a very sad incident involving Milo, my lovely chocolate labrador.  He was staying with a pet sitter whilst I was on holiday and due to no fault of the pet sitter being a strong “puller” he slipped his collar and was involved in a traffic road accident, not surviving the horrible incident. Blaming myself for not training him better when the incident could have been avoided, but I had "managed" the behaviour problem, or so I thought, instead of recognising that it could be eliminated.
